Watch authentication and valuations

We offer a service for all high-end Swiss watches where our Senior Horologist will carefully inspect your timepiece with exacting detail to determine its authenticity. The service helps customers identify counterfeits and to provide details for insurance.

We conduct a vacuum & pressure test to ensure it is waterproof. We open the watch, check serial numbers, case reference numbers and match to any accompanying paperwork/boxes and assess the condition of the watch and advise on suggested service processes. We then carry out a second vacuum & pressure test.

As a member of Australian Jewellery Valuers Guild - Watch Division and Watch & Clockmakers of Australia, we can provide an estimated value of your watch. The charge is $110 for verbal authentication, for an additional $110, we provide a document with the watch reference details and condition report for your personal and insurance records. This document is emailed within two business days.

A basic valuation is $250 and includes 1 photo. A complete valuation is $350 and includes images of: serial numbers, case reference numbers and any other identifying details & features. A digital print out of the performance of the watch from our timing instruments is an additional $50.

Watch repair and restoration

Mechanical watches contain many moving parts. Over time, mechanical watch parts are subject to wear and tear due to friction and lack of adequate lubrication. The majority of manufactures recommend that mechanical watches be serviced every three to five years.

Regular servicing insures that the minimum amount of wear occurs over the life of the watch. A watch that is cared for and serviced regularly can easily be passed on for generations.

We offer complete restoration services for vintage and military watches. Every possible option is explored to source old stock and genuine parts for restorations.

On receipt of your timepiece, we will offer a quotation in writing our quotations are charged at $45 however, this is deductable of any repair going forward.

The service of every watch whether it is quartz or a mechanical watch includes complete disassembly of all the movement, each part is examined for damage, and replaced if necessary the movement is cleaned and again inspected whilst being reassembled, the movement is adjusted to ensure optimum performance, the watch movement is then oiled using factory recommended lubricants and timed and regulated, the movement is then refitted to its case and tested and timed over a period of time before being returned to customer.
